Getting started with FORGE is fast and easy

FORGE packages include a pre-processor for data preparation, solvers (2D & 3D) for computation and a post-processor which enables easy visualization of the simulation results.

Glpre, the user friendly project-oriented FORGE pre-processor includes :

direct link from your CAD to FORGE in order to rapidly read IGES, DXF files,...

a tool for simple geometry definition,

fully automatic meshing of the part and of the deformable dies.

readers for different file formats such as Patran, Nastran formats, Ideas Universal files and STL formats,

an extremely fast initial mesh generator. The automatic mesher is used to create the volume mesh (with 4 node tetrahedrons) of the part to be forged, starting from a surface mesh (with 3 node linear triangles).

OpenGL pre-processor


The software includes a material data base, a process condition data base and a press data base which includes a wide range of press types (hydraulic, mechanical, hammer and user defined). Each of these can be pre-defined by an individual user.

The first step in a standard computation is to adjust the die geometry to the initial part mesh, then to select the press type and the material to be forged. This is achieved with the pre-processor.

Second step is to run the simulation: this is achieved with a new easy-to-use interface to manage the simulation.

Finaly, FORGE packages include a post-processor which enables easy visualization of the simulation results in the part and in the dies:

easier access to node data, inclusive of cross-sections data,
